Title: ‘You need a shot to remember (A kiss and I will surrender)
Author: [info]jen_jm
Pairing: Jon Walker/Spencer Smith
Rating: PG-13 for boykissing
Characters: Jon Walker, Spencer Smith
Word count: about 2,100
Warnings: bit of language and a little angst, I guess.
Disclaimer: Jon and Spencer aren’t mine, they belong to each other  Pete  themselves. Actually no one in here belongs to me, and it’s so sad.
I really don’t mean to offend anyone and nothing of what I wrote in this story is to be considered real, it’s all fiction.
Author’s Notes: Because when I sit down and I decide I want to write a drabble about Jon’s fears about being a replacement, you can be sure it’s gonna turn out to be at least 2,000 words long. LOL
Title from My Chemical Romance’s song “The Sharpest Lives”, because somehow that’s kind of the line that inspired all this.
As ever, feel free to report any mistake. Constructive criticism is welcome, feedback makes me happy!
Beta: my adored&worshipped [info]faechan
Summary: “If he’s Brent’s replacement, maybe one day he’ll get a phone call from Spencer too.

Crossposted. Like, a lot.

Gratuitous Nick Cave post

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 1:48 PM
I snagged a nice Nick Cave icon (a much younger Nick Cave), so I had to have a gratuitous Nick Cave post to break in the new icon.

I can't help myself - there's just something about him that I adore.

(Yeah, yeah, Kimm, he's smoking, whatever, he's still sexay and he's still a freaking amazing singer and songwriter.)

Hey, at least there's only 4 months, 2 weeks and 1 day until I get to see him in concert! :-p

The death count in China is up to 12,000 with another 25,000 at risk.

The death count in Burma is over 60,000 with 2 million people at risk.

If you believe in a higher power, or whatever else, spare a moment for these souls today, and spare another moment for those that survived.

Being pushy and rude for the cure...

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 1:40 PM
My company is doing the Komen Foundation race for the cure stuff right now.

This is a great cause, one I support financially, but I've never been able to participate in the actual walk.

My co-worker and I went downstairs for lunch. We had taken maybe one step off the elevator when we were literally ambushed by the volunteers. "Ladies, come register for the race for the cure!!" She shoved out a little keychain. I numbly took one, mumbled "thank you" and continued walking.

My co-worker said, "I can't." and walked away. Frankly? She was pissed off at being jumped like that. As we're walking off, this volunteer makes this nasty face and says, "Why CAN'T you?"

I don't know. Maybe because I'm busy, I don't know who will take care of my child that day, or maybe because it's none of your goddamned business why I can't. Back the fuck off, sister. Volunteering is voluntary.

So we go eat our lunch, and we did discuss the unsettling woman. We walked past her again on the way out, and one of the other women started to approach me. I hear a whispered (oh, no, she's already got a keychain). They start to approach my co-worker, and the rude woman puts her hand up and says, "Don't bother, SHE CAN'T."

What a rude person.

Can You Feel The Explosion?

Title: Can You Feel The Explosion?
(This is the continue to Love Like Winter)
Author:
Me
Pairing: Candy (What? If there'll be names as Rydon and Frerard Cat and Andy can have their own!)
POV: None
Summary: Whip had often considered getting a much smaller apartment, mostly because he saw no use and being in a big place without any regular company, and partly because there was too many rooms to look through when you was looking for someone.

Disclaimer: Did not happen - though with these guys it could. Don't sue :P
Dedications: Now take a wild guess who this is gonna get dedicated to? ;)

New Year's Eve
This is surreal. The building that I looked at for many years sitting in my office on the 14th floor of the EE building is no more. A short-circuit caused a major fire, ending in the partial collapse of the building. Many of my architecture college friends went to college in that building.

Here's the view from the 14th floor (it's the building on the right):

This is a video of the building's collapse:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/13/majority-of-dems-want-clinton-to-be-vp/

A new Gallup poll shows 55 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents surveyed think Obama should offer the New York senator a spot on his ticket. That number is significantly influenced by Clinton's supporters — close the 75 percent of her backers want the No. 2 spot to be offered, while only 43 percent of Obama supporters feel the same.

If everyone's telling the DNC to give the people what they want (meaning don't use super delegates to overturn the vote), they might just push Obama to choose Clinton as his VP.

A really cool picture of Obama.

Mischief Managed is a brand new, original character, contemporary Harry Potter RPG currently seeking talented writers. We are a unique community of original characters that still respect the canon laws of the Harry Potter universe. We value in-depth character development and mature writers (Mary-Sues and self-inserts will not be considered.) This is an HP board for dedicated writers and storytellers that enjoy collaborating with their fellow 'students' to create their own history.

We welcome people to apply for professors, as Mischief Managed is one of the few boards that holds active classes in any and all Hogwarts subjects, but we are also looking for students of all houses and ages (especially Slytherins!) As a moderator, I can tell you that we are always open to new plots and new faces, so feel free to contact the mod account at mismanaged [at] gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Wow, this is really weird and coincidental...

My phone rings and I know it's an unknown call because I have my phone sent to a particular ring for those that aren't in my database on my phone...

It's a recruiter that I haven't spoken to since around March 2007. She asks if I'm still in the advertising biz (they're an advertising recruitment agency) and I tell her I've gotten out of it for a bit but am still interested. She asked for me to PLEASE send my resume and let her know more details. There aren't any positions here in Austin, but she'll keep me informed.

Not even 3 minutes after this call, I get another call:
I have an interview with UT next Tuesday at 1030a!

Also, I've kept some dialogue going with another position that is interested in me.

Good stuff. :)

Looks like I'll be going to another coffee shop, jobless meeting tomorrow and later tomorrow afternoon, I'll be going to a job fair with reanimated. Good stuff.

I've done my part

I've voted as much as I could for Jason Taylor in Dancing with the Stars. I am certain he'll be in the final next week.

Damn he's hot, and he's actually a pretty good dancer, too. But let's be honest, I vote for him, not only because he plays for my beloved Dolphins (and he's an all around swell guy), but also because that man is sexay.

(Hey, I'm allowed to be shallow every once in a while.)
Does anyone here work in the mortgage industry?

I have 2 quick questions that i'd prefer to ask off list (as it has to do with my income) about my looking to get a home loan here in Central Texas.

More working at things that make me money today. So boring. In other news I'm hosting this month's POC in Sci-Fi Carnival. The topic? POC representation in YA fiction. I hope to have the carnival post up by the 26th, so get cracking folks. Please link all submissions in this post.

Yaz users

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 10:23 AM
I just wanted to ask any Yaz users if they have had similar side effects as me.

I've just started Yaz, and I understand that there are side effects, I've been on HBC on and off for about 10 years.

The first month I started my period a week before the "inactive" pills and it was extremely light. So I skipped the inactive pills to keep from having another period the next week.

This month I'm having another period, a week or so before my inactive pills again.

Should I just suck it up and take my inactive pills at their normal time and see if I have another period before starting my next pack?

Have any other Yaz users had this problem?

I feel like I'm paying too much money for the pills to be acting this way. (no insurance)

( I'm going to speak to my Nurse about it. But since I go to a clinic for lower incomes, it's very hard to get an appointment. I'd probably have to wait a month or so just to see her. But I might be able to get her on the phone to change my prescription to another pill.)
